This article presents mobile encounter networks (MENs), which emerge when mobile devices come across each other and form a temporary connection between them using a common short-range radio technology. Local information exchanges between mobile devices results in a broadcast diffusion of information to other users of the network with a delay. Information Exchange in Mobile Encounter Network

In this paper we analyze an information exchange method based on information diffusion in mobile encounter networks, a form of mobile peer-to-peer networks. We utilize dual mobility model which provides support for more realistic simulations compared to mobility models based only one method of movement. The distribution of the mobile device encounter intervals are discussed and analyzed via simulation runs. The logistic model is suggested to provide reasonably accurate estimates of the information diffusion process.

Smartphone usage data can be used to study human indoor and outdoor mobility. In our work, we investigate both aspects in proposing machine learning-based algorithms adapted to the different information sources that can be collected.In terms of outdoor mobility, we use the collected GPS coordinate data to discover the daily mobility patterns of the users. To this end, we propose an automatic clustering algorithm using the Dirichlet process Gaussian mixture model (DPGMM) so as to cluster the daily GPS trajectories.
